Naloxone, anopioid antagonist, is included to prevent misuse of the medication. If Suboxone isdissolved and injected, naloxone will block the effects of buprenorphine and other opioids, helping to discourage abuse. Suboxone is typically prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes counseling andbehavioral therapy.
It is intended to help individuals transition offstronger opioidslike heroin, fentanyl, or prescription painkillers, allowing them to stabilize and work towards recovery. The medication is usually taken sublingually (under the tongue) in the form of a film or tablet.
